To save each person afflicted with the deadly disease of opioid addiction by connecting them to life-saving rehabilitation and counseling services.
What We Do
As a Wisconsin-based nonprofit, we are dedicated to fighting the opioid and heroin epidemic throughout the United States. We accomplish this through education, prevention, awareness and rehabilitation.
What does prevention look like? It looks like us. We are a fully volunteer-based nonprofit, we build education, awareness and fundraising programs to drive much-needed dollars to fund a person into proper treatment for opioid and heroin addiction in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Dodge, Washington, Madison and surrounding Counties in Wisconsin and nationally. And as such, 100% of the dollars we generate go directly to helping someone who suffers from the horrible disease of heroin or opioid addiction obtain the help they need.
The Opioid Epidemic
From 1999 to 2013 in the United States, the drug poisoning death rate more than doubled, and the rate for drug poisoning deaths involving opioid poisoning nearly quadrupled.¹ In Wisconsin alone, opioid related drug overdose deaths increased from 270 in 2005 to 614 in 2015, over a 130% increase. While drug deaths involving non-opioids is nearly statistically unchanged during the same time.²
Education And Prevention
Stop Heroin Now invests in the education and prevention of opioid and heroin use. Our in-school and community events are designed to build awareness, educate both parents and the community, and drive important conversations around the use, availability and deadliness of the current opioid epidemic. Contact us today to arrange for an in-person educational workshop to combat opioid and heroin addiction in your community.
Where We Started
Stop Heroin Now was founded in 2013 by Linda Lenz, the mother of Tony Lenz who died that year of an accidental heroin overdose. Distraught with facing a lifetime without Tony, and knowing that she had to do something in her own community to battle this rising epidemic, Lisa founded Stop Heroin Now, Inc. A 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting recovery services to those in the community that so desperately needed them. Since that time, Stop Heroin Now has connected services to countless people through recovery and rehabilitation.
